Odisha’s Silicon Revolution Gains Momentum: SiCSem Cleared for Khordha Semiconductor Plant
The Unit Approval Committee (UAC) of the Falta Special Economic Zone has granted approval to SiCSem Pvt. Ltd. to establish Odisha’s second major semiconductor manufacturing facility.
The state‑of‑the‑art plant will be set up at IDCO Infovalley‑II in Jatni Tahasil, Khordha district, covering 21.889 acres.
With a capital investment of ₹3,406.25 crore, the facility will specialise in Silicon Carbide (SiC) semiconductors—critical components for next‑generation electronics.
The plant is expected to produce 4.8 million SiC diodes and 91.2 million SiC MOSFETs annually.
The project promises significant economic impact, including direct employment for 1,270 professionals and a projected turnover of ₹7,043 crore over five years.
Net foreign exchange earnings are estimated at ₹4,523 crore, underscoring Odisha’s growing role in India’s semiconductor ecosystem.
This milestone positions Odisha as a rising hub for advanced electronics manufacturing, boosting self‑reliance and strengthening India’s global competitiveness in the semiconductor sector.
