Nuakhai Juhar: Leaders Extend Warm Greetings on Odisha’s Harvest Festival
Odisha celebrated the vibrant harvest festival of Nuakhai with heartfelt greetings from Deputy Chief Ministers K.V. Singh Deo and Pravati Parida, along with Leader of Opposition Naveen Patnaik.
Deputy CM Singh Deo described Nuakhai as the “soul of our culture,” symbolising prosperity, unity, and identity.
He offered prayers to Maa Pataneswari, Maa Samaleswari, and Maa Dasamati, wishing peace and happiness for every household.
Deputy CM Parida emphasised the festival’s role in strengthening cultural and familial bonds, expressing hopes that Nuakhai would bring “new dreams and new hopes” for the people of Odisha.
Naveen Patnaik also extended greetings via social media, wishing happiness, peace, and prosperity, concluding his message with “Jai Maa Samalei.”
Nuakhai, celebrated a day after Ganesh Chaturthi, marks the offering of the season’s first grains (Nabanna) to deities.
Families gather to share meals, seek blessings from elders, and reinforce community solidarity, making it one of Western Odisha’s most cherished traditions.
