Odisha Assembly Panel Studies UP Legislature’s e‑Vidhan System
Bhubaneswar: A delegation from the Odisha Legislative Assembly’s Departmental Standing Committee‑3 is on a study tour to the Uttar Pradesh Legislative Assembly from September 2 to 7.
The visit aims to understand legislative procedures, committee functioning, and the use of technology in the House.
Led by Chairman Babu Singh, the team includes MLAs Byomakesh Ray, Sunil Kumar Mohanty, Manas Kumar Dutta, and Nilamadhab Hikka, along with Committee Officer Ishwar Chandra Nayak and Joint Secretary Niranjan Kar.
On September 3, the delegation held discussions with UP Assembly Speaker Satish Mahana, Secretary Pradeep Kumar Dubey, and senior officials.
Key topics included Assembly management, committee powers, the e‑Vidhan digital system, budget presentation and passage, and member facilities.
The Odisha panel also studied urban development issues such as housing, drainage, and construction, while examining transparency measures like YouTube streaming and live telecasts of Assembly proceedings.
The visit is expected to help Odisha explore similar reforms to modernise its legislative processes and enhance public accessibility.
