Odisha Approves 152 Super Specialty Doctor Posts to Strengthen Healthcare

The Odisha government has sanctioned 152 new faculty and specialist posts across super speciality departments in major medical institutions.

The recruitment drive includes Professors, Associate Professors, Assistant Professors, and Senior Residents in disciplines such as Cardiology, Neurology, Neurosurgery, Plastic Surgery, Nephrology, Cardiothoracic & Vascular Surgery (CTVS), Haematology, and Surgical Gastroenterology.

Institutions like Capital Hospital (Bhubaneswar), SCB Medical College (Cuttack), MKCG Medical College (Berhampur), VIMSAR (Burla), and medical colleges in Koraput, Baripada, Balangir, Balasore, Talcher, and Puri will benefit from the expansion.

Health Minister Dr Mukesh Mahaling emphasised that under Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi’s leadership, the initiative aims to bridge the gap in specialist availability and ensure advanced medical care reaches underserved regions.

This move follows Odisha’s consistent recruitment efforts over the past two years, which added thousands of medical officers, paramedical staff, nursing officers, radiographers, pharmacists, ophthalmic officers, and lab technicians.

The latest approval marks a major step toward elevating healthcare quality and accessibility across the state.
