Odisha Breaks Into Top 5 in NITI Aayog’s Investment Index

Odisha has achieved a significant milestone by securing 5th place in NITI Aayog’s Investment Friendliness Index 2026 with 52.4 points, becoming the only state from Eastern and Northern India to feature in the top five.

Gujarat topped the list with 56.6 points, followed by Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, and Goa.

Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi was felicitated at Lok Seva Bhawan by industry leaders and associations for this achievement.

He highlighted that Odisha has already crossed Rs 3 lakh crore in investments within two years against a five-year target of Rs 5 lakh crore.

The state has approved 453 projects, promising Rs 9.5 lakh crore in investments and 2.5 million jobs across districts.

Industry leaders from CII and ICC praised Odisha’s transformation, describing it as a “land of performance” rather than just “possibilities.” With strong support from Prime Minister Narendra Modi and accelerated industrialisation and IT growth, Odisha is expected to climb even higher, with predictions of reaching second place nationally in the near future.
