Odisha and Japan’s Tottori Prefecture Advance Landmark Friendship Agreement
Bhubaneswar: Odisha has taken a significant step toward strengthening international ties as senior officials from the state government and Japan’s Tottori Prefecture held a virtual meeting to advance a proposed Friendship Agreement.
The meeting, led by Odisha Chief Secretary Anu Garg and Tottori’s Chief Secretary Endo Toshiki, focused on expanding cooperation in economic development, tourism promotion, cultural exchange, student mobility, and human resource development.
Delegations included representatives from Tottori’s tourism, trade, and logistics departments, as well as officials from the Indian Embassy in Japan.
Odisha’s side featured senior officers from industries, tourism, MSME, youth services, and education departments.
As part of the roadmap, a working-level delegation from Tottori will visit Odisha in July 2026, followed by a high-level delegation led by the Governor of Tottori in November 2026.
The agreement is expected to boost MSME collaboration, promote local products, enhance skill development, expand tourism marketing, and strengthen people-to-people ties.
The initiative builds on momentum from May 2026, when Japan’s Consul General in Kolkata visited Odisha and met Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi and the Chief Secretary.
