Delivery Boy Attacked, Looted in Bhubaneswar; Police Probe Underway

Bhubaneswar witnessed a shocking incident late Thursday night when a delivery boy, Tapas Behera, was brutally attacked by miscreants on the Jagamara–Gandamunda road under Khandagiri police limits.

The assailants chased him and struck him with sharp weapons, leaving him grievously injured before fleeing with his mobile phone and cash.

Local residents rushed Behera to Capital Hospital, where he was admitted with serious injuries. Doctors have confirmed his condition is stable.

The attack occurred on a poorly lit stretch of road, an area where residents have long complained about inadequate street lighting and recurring criminal activity.

Police have recorded Behera’s statement and are examining CCTV footage to identify the culprits.

Investigators are probing whether the victim knew the attackers.

Authorities have assured strict action once the perpetrators are traced.

The incident has sparked concern among delivery workers and residents, highlighting the urgent need for improved street lighting and stronger safety measures in vulnerable areas of the city.
