JP Das Donates Body to AIIMS Bhubaneswar, Honoring Final Wish
Bhubaneswar: Odisha’s literary icon Dr Jagannath Prasad Das (JP Das), renowned for his contributions to literature, art, and public service, fulfilled his final wish by donating his body to AIIMS Bhubaneswar for medical research and education.
A celebrated writer, painter, playwright, and former IAS officer, JP Das resigned from the civil service in 1958 to dedicate his life to creative pursuits.
His acclaimed works, including Desha Kala Patra, enriched Odia literature and reflected his deep love for the language.
Despite his stature, Das lived a humble and quiet life, away from public recognition, focusing instead on intellectual and artistic endeavours.
He had long suffered from lung ailments, aggravated by Delhi’s pollution, but passed away peacefully at home.
His decision to donate his body symbolises his lifelong belief in service and selflessness, ensuring that even in death, he continues to contribute to humanity.
JP Das’s legacy remains a guiding light for Odisha’s cultural and intellectual landscape.
