Odia Marine Engineer Returns Safely After 36-Day Strait of Hormuz Ordeal
Bhubaneswar, April 12: Marine engineer Ashok Kumar Dixit from Odisha has safely returned home after enduring 36 tense days aboard an LPG carrier trapped in the Strait of Hormuz, amid escalating hostilities in West Asia.
The vessel, carrying liquefied petroleum gas bound for India, faced grave danger as missiles flew overhead and nearby ships came under attack.
Dixit credited the Indian Navy and the Government of India for discreet rescue operations that ensured the safety of stranded sailors.
Upon arrival in Bhubaneswar, Dixit was reunited with his wife and daughter, expressing gratitude to Lord Jagannath and the prayers of the people of Odisha.
His ordeal underscores both the resilience of Indian seafarers and the effectiveness of India’s maritime rescue efforts in volatile regions.
