Odisha to Establish Way‑Side Amenities Every 50 km
The Odisha government has unveiled plans to set up Way‑Side Amenities Centres at 50‑kilometre intervals along national highways, expressways, state highways, and major district roads.
The proposal was discussed in a high‑level meeting chaired by Law, Works & Excise Minister Prithviraj Harichandan, with officials from Works, Transport, NHAI, HPCL, and Tourism departments.
Each centre will feature toilets for men and women, EV charging stations, petrol pumps, food courts, and rest houses to improve travel convenience.
In the first phase, the state will sign MoUs with public sector oil companies, providing land while the companies manage and maintain the facilities.
The initiative aims to strengthen Odisha’s road network, reduce accidents, and enhance safe, comfortable travel for truck drivers, bus passengers, and tourists.
