Minister Nityananda Gond: School Uniforms for All Students by April 27
The Odisha government has announced that free school uniforms will be distributed to all students in government and government-aided schools by April 27, 2026, ahead of the summer vacation.
School and Mass Education Minister Nityananda Gond confirmed that a Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) has already been issued to streamline the process.
According to the timeline, class-wise requirements will be finalised by April 10, agencies selected by April 12, and work orders issued immediately thereafter.
Agencies with prior complaints or allegations will be excluded from the process to ensure accountability.
The government has emphasised strict monitoring and quality checks to guarantee timely delivery and convenience for students.
Meanwhile, the decision on the summer vacation schedule will be taken after reviewing weather conditions and heatwave forecasts.
This initiative aims to ensure that every student begins the new academic session with proper uniforms, reinforcing both equity and preparedness in Odisha’s education system.
