Berhampur Police Arrest Man for Impersonating BJP Leader’s PA
Berhampur police arrested a 28‑year‑old man, Jagannath Mandal of Panchama village in Ganjam district, for impersonating the personal assistant of BJP national leader Nitin Nabin.
Mandal allegedly demanded Rs 50,000 each from two individuals via WhatsApp on April 1, claiming the money was for party work.
He threatened to file complaints against them with the BJP leader if they refused.
Following complaints lodged at Town and Bada Bazar police stations, cases were registered, and Mandal was arrested.
Police revealed that Mandal has a history of fraud, including a previous arrest in December 2024 for cheating.
He had been living alternately in Surat and Berhampur, and was reportedly involved in making hoax calls to political workers while impersonating PAs of prominent figures.
Berhampur SP Saravana Vivek M confirmed the arrest and highlighted Mandal’s repeated fraudulent activities.
