Lakhs Witness Sandhya Darshan at Gundicha Temple Before Bahuda Yatra
Puri, July 23: The sacred Sandhya Darshan of Lord Jagannath, Lord Balabhadra, and Devi Subhadra at the Adapa Mandap inside Shree Gundicha Temple drew lakhs of devotees today.
This marks the final public darshan before the deities embark on their return journey — the Bahuda Yatra — scheduled for tomorrow.
Devotees were allowed darshan until 6 PM, after which the temple gates closed for cleansing and pre‑Bahuda rituals.
The administration implemented elaborate crowd‑management measures, including barricades, drinking water points, Mahaprasad distribution, and regulated entry through Singhadwara with exit via Nakachana gate.
Additional Director General of Police Saumendra Priyadarshi assured robust security arrangements, while servitors performed secret rituals on Navami night to prepare for the Bahuda Yatra.
The southern turn of the chariots has been finalised, ensuring smooth conduct of tomorrow’s procession.
Officials appealed to devotees to cooperate in the spirit of seva, highlighting the emotional significance of Sandhya Darshan as devotees seek blessings before the deities return to the Sri Mandir.
