Kolkata Youth Detained for Illegal Drone Flight Over Shree Jagannath Temple
Puri Police detained a youth from Kolkata, Jayakrishna Mandal, after he was caught flying a drone over the Shree Jagannath Temple early Thursday morning.
The drone was spotted around 5:30 a.m. near the Matimandap Sahi area, raising immediate security concerns.
A special team under Puri SP Prateek Singh seized the drone and took Mandal into custody.
The equipment was confiscated, and the accused is currently being held at Singhadwar Police Station. Authorities confirmed that legal action will follow.
Police reiterated that flying drones without permission in or around the temple’s protected zone is a punishable offence.
Citizens have been urged to respect temple security protocols, as the Shree Jagannath Temple is a high‑security zone where violations of aerial restrictions will invite strict consequences.
