IAS Officer Gavali Parag Harshad Returns Early to Odisha Cadre After Centre Approval
Bhubaneswar: The Central Government has approved the premature repatriation of Odisha-cadre IAS officer Gavali Parag Harshad, paving the way for his return to the state cadre before the completion of his deputation tenure.
According to an order issued by the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT), the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has approved the early return of the senior officer from his central assignment.
He was serving as Deputy Secretary in the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA) prior to the repatriation order.
The order relieves Gavali Parag Harshad of his central responsibilities with immediate effect, enabling him to rejoin the Odisha cadre for further assignment by the state government.
The Centre has not specified any official reason for the premature repatriation.
The IAS officer had proceeded on central deputation in July 2024 and initially served as Private Secretary to Union Tribal Affairs Minister Jual Oram.
Subsequently, he was appointed Deputy Secretary in the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs in February 2025.
Before moving to the Centre, Gavali Parag Harshad held several key administrative positions in Odisha, including serving as Collector and District Magistrate of Sundargarh.
He has also worked in various district and state-level administrative roles, earning considerable experience in governance and public administration.
His return to Odisha is expected to lead to a fresh administrative posting by the state government in the coming days.
However, no announcement regarding his next assignment has been made so far.
