Rayagada: Youth Arrested for Abducting Minor Girl, Booked Under POCSO
Rayagada district witnessed a disturbing incident when a minor girl was abducted while collecting mushrooms in the forest.
According to police reports, a youth from a neighbouring village allegedly forced her away and sexually assaulted her.
He then attempted to take her to a temple for marriage against her will.
In distress, the girl consumed poisonous wild fruit and was rushed to Rayagada District Headquarters Hospital, where she remains in critical condition.
Acting on her family’s complaint, Kasipur Police swiftly arrested the accused, produced him in court, and booked him under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.
Authorities have assured that further investigation is underway, while the community awaits justice for the victim.
