Khandagiri Festival: Police Issues 14 Rules to Ensure Safety and Discipline
Bhubaneswar: The Commissionerate Police has released a set of 14 strict guidelines for the upcoming Khandagiri Festival to ensure smooth conduct, public safety, and cultural respect.
According to the directive, obscene or provocative dances will not be permitted, and organisers must arrange six emergency entry and exit routes near festival pandals. Fire extinguishers are mandatory, along with proper parking facilities to avoid congestion.
The rules also emphasise noise control, prohibiting sound levels beyond prescribed limits. Any performance that insults religion, caste, or community will face immediate action.
Additionally, animal cruelty, gambling, and intoxicants are strictly banned within the festival premises.
Organisers must deploy adequate volunteers for crowd management and ensure no unauthorised street vendors operate inside the festival area.
Committees failing to comply will face official notices and penalties.
The guidelines aim to balance tradition with modern safety standards, ensuring that the Khandagiri Festival remains a safe, respectful, and enjoyable celebration for all.
