Kendrapara Sarpanch Faces No-Confidence Motion, Decision on July 27

Chameli Ojha, the Sarpanch of Tikhiri Gram Panchayat in Kendrapara district, is facing a no-confidence motion backed by 21 of 22 ward members.

The vote is scheduled for July 27, with all members directed to attend under the Odisha Gram Panchayat Act.

The Sub-Collector and Mahakalapada Block Development Officer will oversee the process.

While the exact reasons behind the motion remain undisclosed, clarity is expected after the vote.

Meanwhile, Ojha has launched an indefinite hunger strike in Bhubaneswar, demanding action against the Mahakalapada BDO and the local Inspector-in-Charge.

She alleges misconduct and misuse of authority during her arrest.

The outcome of the July 27 vote will determine whether Ojha continues as Sarpanch, even as her separate dispute with local officials draws public attention.
