Jharsuguda Police Arrest Fugitive After 28 Years in Murder Case
Jharsuguda Police have achieved a major breakthrough by arresting a fugitive who evaded justice for nearly three decades in connection with a 1998 murder case.
The accused, originally charged under IPC Sections 364, 302, 201, 109, and 34, escaped police custody in 1998 while being transported in handcuffs.
He later assumed a false identity as Raju Gonda and settled in Raigarh, even securing Aadhaar and PAN cards under the fabricated name.
Despite his long disappearance, Jharsuguda Police carried out sustained intelligence operations and meticulous verification, eventually tracking him down.
The fugitive was arrested and produced before court, marking the end of his 28‑year run from the law.
Officials emphasised that the arrest demonstrates the police’s determination to deliver justice, underscoring that fugitives cannot evade accountability indefinitely.
