IMD Warns Odisha of Rough Seas as Low-Pressure Forms
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has reported the formation of a low-pressure area over North Coastal Odisha, adjoining Gangetic West Bengal and the Northwest Bay of Bengal.
According to forecasts, the system is likely to move northwestwards across north Odisha and adjoining Gangetic West Bengal within the next 24 hours.
The IMD has issued a warning of squally weather with wind speeds of 40–50 kmph, gusting up to 60 kmph, over the Northwest and adjoining west-central Bay of Bengal.
Sea conditions are expected to remain rough to very rough along and off the coasts of West Bengal, Odisha, and North Andhra Pradesh until August 24.
Fishermen have been advised not to venture into the sea during this period, while those engaged in marine activities are urged to exercise extreme caution.
Authorities are closely monitoring the situation to mitigate risks to coastal communities.
