Sora Chain Snatching Incident Leaves Woman Injured; Police Launch Investigation

Sora, Balasore: A woman sustained serious injuries after falling from a motorcycle during a chain-snatching incident near Matiapala Square on NH-16 under the jurisdiction of Sora Police in Balasore district.

The incident occurred when the victim and her husband were returning home after shopping in Sora.

The victim, Kabita Panigrahi, was travelling with her husband on a motorcycle when two unidentified miscreants on a bike allegedly intercepted them near Kanak Durga Hotel.

The accused reportedly snatched an 11-gram gold chain from the woman’s neck before fleeing the scene.

According to reports, the force of the snatching caused Kabita Panigrahi to lose balance and fall from the moving motorcycle, leaving her seriously injured.

Local residents immediately rushed to her aid and transported her to Sora Hospital for treatment.

Following the incident, a formal complaint was lodged at Sora Police Station.

Police have initiated an investigation and are examining available leads to identify and apprehend the culprits involved in the crime.

The incident has raised concerns over the increasing instances of roadside snatching and the need for enhanced vigilance and security measures along busy stretches of NH-16.

Police have urged commuters to remain cautious while travelling and assured that efforts are underway to trace the offenders.
