Humane Sagar Death Case: Somesh Satpathy Seeks Anticipatory Bail

Popular Odia singer Humane Sagar’s untimely demise continues to stir controversy in Odisha’s music industry.

The 34‑year‑old playback singer, celebrated for soulful tracks like Ishq Tu Hi Tu, passed away on November 17, 2025, at AIIMS Bhubaneswar after battling pneumonia, acute liver failure, and multi‑organ dysfunction syndrome.

His mother, Sephali Suna, has filed a complaint at Markat Nagar police station in Cuttack alleging foul play.

She named several individuals, including Sagar’s estranged wife Shreya Mishra, aides Subhendu Mishra, singer Arpita Choudhury and her family, Somesh Satpathy, and Md Abid (Bablu).

The complaint raises suspicions of conspiracy, financial motives, negligence, or abetment, and calls for a thorough probe involving CCTV footage, forensic analysis of digital devices, financial records, and medical history spanning four years.

In response, Odia singer Somesh Satpathy has moved the Orissa High Court seeking anticipatory bail. His plea comes as police continue their investigation, though no FIR has yet been registered.

The case has drawn widespread attention, with tributes to Humane Sagar pouring in from Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, former CM Naveen Patnaik, and fans across the state.

The anticipatory bail petition underscores the growing scrutiny surrounding the case and raises questions about accountability within Odisha’s entertainment industry. Authorities are expected to respond to the bail application soon.
