Hotel Dispute Sparks Midnight Attack in Barbil, Six Arrested, Mastermind Absconding
Barbil, January 5, 2026:A violent incident unfolded in the early hours of Monday at Damu Hutting, Ward No.15, Barbil, when miscreants attacked the residence of Smt. Pushpalata Das (34), wife of Chinmaya Prasad Das.
At around 12:15 a.m., unidentified assailants pelted bricks and stones at her house, one of which narrowly missed her neck. Terrified, she rushed inside for safety.
The attackers then attempted to break the asbestos roof of her house and tried to assault her.
Police investigation revealed that the attack was allegedly orchestrated by Titu alias Sunil Patra, linked to a previous hotel-related dispute.
Acting swiftly on the report, Barbil Police conducted a raid to apprehend the culprits. On spotting the police party, the mastermind Titu managed to escape, but six of his associates were captured.

– Dharmendra Yadav (45), resident of Ballia, Uttar Pradesh, currently residing at Station Road, Barbil
– Manas Ranjan Patra (25), resident of Kalahundula, Joda, Keonjhar
– Muna Karua (32), resident of Damu Hutting, Barbil
– Sumit Kumar Lohar (26), resident of Khodgadia, Champua, Keonjhar
– Raj Kishore Patra (24), resident of Hundula, Joda, Keonjhar
– Bijay Jora (35), resident of Sahid Nagar, Dipu Hutting, Joda, Keonjhar
Seized Articles:
– Three broken asbestos sheets, bricks, and stones
– One white Scorpio vehicle (Regd. No. OD-09-L-9100)
– One black-red Bajaj Pulsar motorcycle (Regd. No. OD-09-AB-0276)
The absconding accused Titu alias Sunil Patra is yet to be arrested. Police have confirmed that the investigation is ongoing.
