Health Dept Seals Ultrasound Facility in Baleshwar Over Irregularities

The Odisha Health Department has sealed a registered ultrasound facility in Soro, Balasore, following a surprise inspection that revealed serious violations of medical and legal norms.

During the inspection on July 9–10, officials found that the facility had failed to submit mandatory Online Form F records, did not display the doctor’s credentials in the ultrasound room, and showed discrepancies in statutory documentation.

Verification on the state portal confirmed no records had been filed for the reporting period.

Authorities also seized equipment and materials suggesting unauthorised medical termination of pregnancy (MTP) procedures, despite the facility lacking registration under the MTP Act.

Documents and digital evidence were taken for further review.

Legal proceedings under the PC & PNDT Act, the MTP Act, and other relevant laws are being initiated. Statutory notices will be issued after the evidence examination.

Reaffirming its zero‑tolerance policy, the Health & Family Welfare Department emphasised strict enforcement against sex selection and female foeticide, underscoring its commitment to protecting the girl child and upholding medical ethics across Odisha.
