Former IT Secretary Quizzed in Odisha Missing CMO Reports Case

Bhubaneswar, July 18: Former IT Secretary Manoj Mishra appeared before the Capital Police in Bhubaneswar on Saturday in connection with the disappearance of two crucial inquiry commission reports from the Odisha Chief Minister’s Office (CMO) during the previous BJD government’s tenure.

Mishra confirmed that he had provided all requested information to investigators and assured full cooperation, but refrained from disclosing details publicly as the matter is under investigation.

Capital Police Inspector Radhakanta Sahoo stated that Mishra was examined earlier than scheduled due to his unavailability on July 22.

Former IAS officer Rajesh Verma has also been summoned for questioning.

The missing reports include the Justice A.S. Naidu Commission’s findings on the 2008 Kandhamal riots and the Revenue Divisional Commissioner’s inquiry into the 2016 Bhubaneswar hospital fire that claimed over 20 lives.

The Odisha Home Department lodged a complaint on June 10, 2026, alleging that the reports were not handed over after the change of government.

Police registered a case and launched an investigation into the matter.
