Odisha’s Lok Bhavan Creates History with IGBC Platinum Certification

Odisha’s Lok Bhavan has become the first Governor’s Office in India to earn the prestigious IGBC Platinum Green Campus Certification, scoring 88 out of 100 under the Indian Green Building Council’s rating system.

The recognition highlights Lok Bhavan’s pioneering sustainability measures, including energy‑efficient systems, renewable energy adoption, rainwater harvesting, biodiversity protection, scientific waste management, and eco‑friendly mobility solutions such as electric vehicles.

Governor Dr Hari Babu Kambhampati hailed the achievement as a milestone in sustainable governance, stating that “when governance goes green, the future grows stronger.”

Law Minister Prithviraj Harichandan described it as a proud benchmark for Odisha, while Health Minister Mukesh Mahaling emphasised renewable energy and green landscaping as transformative steps.

This certification positions Odisha as a leader in climate‑responsive public infrastructure, setting a national precedent for sustainable governance in India.
