Nabarangpur, April 28: A shocking incident unfolded at Dabugaon Police Station in Nabarangpur district when Purna Kalar, accused in a minor’s rape case, was found hanging inside the station toilet.

Kalar, arrested a few days earlier, was scheduled to be produced in court the same day. Police said he allegedly used a piece of cloth torn from a sheet to hang himself from the toilet’s ventilation structure.

His body was later shifted to Nabarangpur District Headquarters Hospital for post‑mortem examination.

Authorities have termed the incident suspicious and ordered a probe into the circumstances leading to the death. Police assured that accountability will be fixed and negligence, if any, will be identified.
