Deogarh Gang Rape: Judicial Custody for Four, Hunt On for Fifth
Deogarh, April 28: A shocking incident has emerged from Barkote police limits in Deogarh district, where a 24‑year‑old woman was allegedly gang‑raped by five men on April 20 while returning from a relative’s house.
The accused also took nude photographs of the victim and circulated them on social media.
Police have arrested four accused—Udia Dhibar (26), Doctor Bhuyan (33), Manoj Mahakul (22), and Prashant alias Kengalu Nayak (28)—all residents of villages under Barakot jurisdiction.
They were produced in court, denied bail, and remanded to judicial custody.
One suspect remains absconding, with police continuing efforts to apprehend him.
A case has been registered under the IT Act and BNS 70, with Station Officer Sushant Badhei confirming strict legal action against those responsible for both the assault and the circulation of explicit images.
