Congress Ultimatum: Odisha Minister Gond Must Quit in 7 Days
Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Congress has demanded the resignation of State School and Mass Education Minister Nityananda Gond, issuing a seven‑day ultimatum to the government.
PCC President Bhakta Charan Das warned that failure to act would trigger statewide protests, including an Odisha Bandh.
The demand follows Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan’s resignation, which Congress claims was forced rather than voluntary.
Das linked the development to the rising “Gen Z” movement and Rahul Gandhi’s campaign, emphasising youth voices demanding accountability and reform.
Congress accused the BJP government of neglecting welfare schemes, ignoring youth concerns, and allowing over 2,200 textbook errors, which they say jeopardised students’ futures.
The party announced candlelight marches, satyagraha, and block‑level protests until their demands are met.
Das stressed that the campaign is not limited to resignations but aims at comprehensive reforms in Odisha’s education system, positioning the Congress as a champion of youth and academic integrity.
