Vedanta Aluminium Wins Three Best Paper Awards at IBAAS 2026
JHARSUGUDA (TNB): Vedanta Aluminium secured three Best Paper Awards at the 14th International Bauxite, Alumina & Aluminium Conference and Exhibition (IBAAS 2026), held in Jharsuguda, highlighting its technical expertise and research capabilities across the aluminium value chain.
Representatives from Vedanta’s plants presented 24 technical papers covering artificial intelligence, digitalisation, alumina refining, aluminium smelting, sustainability, alloy development, resource recovery and operational excellence.
The conference, themed ‘Global Aluminium Outlook 2030: Secure Resources, Efficient Energy and Value from Wastes’, brought together industry leaders, researchers, technology providers, policymakers and academics to discuss resource security, energy efficiency and circular economy opportunities.
Vedanta Aluminium CEO Rajesh Kumar, who attended the inaugural session as Chief Guest, emphasised the need for resilient, technology-driven and value-added aluminium ecosystems amid growing demand from electric mobility, renewable energy, infrastructure and advanced manufacturing.
Chief Operating Officer (Smelter), Vedanta Aluminium, Jharsuguda, Vibhav Upadhyay, delivered a thought leadership address on ‘Aluminium Value Chain and its Applications: Enabling Lightweight Solutions, Energy Efficiency and Advancing ESG Goals.’
The company’s papers on carbon anode quality improvement, conversion of bauxite residue into resources through cross-sector collaboration, and age-hardening of AA6201 rods using Mg/Si optimisation and strontium-assisted intermetallic transformation received Best Paper Awards in the smelting, refining and alloy categories, respectively.
Vedanta Aluminium produced around 2.46 million tonnes of aluminium in FY26.
