US Forces Down Two Iranian Drones in Strait of Hormuz

The United States military announced that its forces shot down two Iranian one‑way attack drones in the Strait of Hormuz, citing threats to international maritime traffic.

According to US Central Command (CENTCOM), the drones posed an immediate danger to regional shipping lanes, prompting defensive action.

This incident follows a series of escalations in recent days, including the interception of multiple ballistic missiles and drones launched by Iran toward Gulf neighbours.

On Friday, US forces had already downed four Iranian drones and carried out strikes on Iranian coastal radar installations at Goruk and Qeshm Island.

CENTCOM stated that the strikes targeted Iranian surveillance infrastructure used to monitor maritime activity.

While no casualty figures or damage assessments were released, the US emphasised that its actions were necessary to protect international commerce and freedom of navigation.

Iran has not yet issued an official response.

The confrontation underscores rising tensions between Washington and Tehran, even as indirect talks continue in efforts to ease regional conflicts.
