Union Minister Scindia Urges Odisha CM to Clear BSNL Dues of ₹28.54 Crore

Union Minister for Communications Jyotiraditya M. Scindia has written to Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, urging the state government to clear pending dues of Rs 28.54 crore owed to Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL).

According to the minister, several departments and organisations under the Odisha government have not settled their bills, creating financial stress for BSNL.

Despite receiving revival packages in 2019, 2022, and 2023, the state-owned telecom operator continues to face challenges in maintaining a steady cash flow.

Scindia emphasised that timely payments are crucial to ensure uninterrupted telecom services, particularly in rural and remote areas where BSNL plays a vital role in connecting government offices, the Armed Forces, banks, and institutions.

The Department of Telecommunications (DoT) has already requested early clearance of dues, and Scindia reiterated the appeal, asking the Chief Minister to instruct departments to expedite payments.

He noted that Odisha’s support would help BSNL stabilise financially and sustain essential communication services across the state.
