Suryastra Rockets Successfully Tested at Chandipur, Boosting Indian Army’s Strike Power
Bhubaneswar/Chandipur: Private defence firm Nibe Limited has successfully conducted firing trials of its Suryastra rockets at the Integrated Test Range (ITR), Chandipur, Odisha.
The trials showcased two variants — one with a 150 km range, achieving a circular error probable (CEP) of 1.5 metres, and another with a 300 km range, achieving a CEP of 2 metres.
The tests were carried out under a procurement order from the Indian Army, aimed at strengthening its deep-strike capabilities.
Defence experts noted that the rockets will complement existing tactical ballistic and cruise missiles, providing the Army with a reliable long-range artillery option.
Strategic analysts highlighted that integrating long-range rocket artillery with the Indian Air Force’s offensive counter-air capabilities will significantly enhance India’s operational strength.
The successful demonstration also underscores the growing role of private firms in advanced weapons development, marking a milestone in India’s defence preparedness.
