Kalahandi Police Bust Copper Wire Theft Racket, Five Arrested
Kesinga Police in Kalahandi district have arrested five individuals in connection with a series of copper wire thefts at the Vedanta Pump House sub‑station.
Over the past eight days, the thefts caused losses estimated at more than Rs 30 lakh.
During the operation, police recovered 480 kg of copper wire valued at around Rs 10 lakh along with Rs 2.5 lakh in cash.
Most of the accused hail from Mahasamund district in Chhattisgarh, while one person from Balangir, allegedly a buyer of stolen goods, was also taken into custody.
Preliminary investigations suggest the involvement of an inter‑state racket with strong links to Chhattisgarh.
Authorities believe more individuals may be connected to the case, and further arrests are expected as the probe continues.
