Sundargarh Funeral Feast Turns Tragic: Four Dead, 17 Hospitalised
Sundargarh: A funeral feast in Nuadihi village under Hemgir block turned into a tragedy on Saturday, claiming four lives and leaving more than 17 people hospitalised.
According to officials, two victims were from Nuadihi village, while two women hailed from Sunakhain village in Jharsuguda district.
The deceased have been identified as Ullas Khadia and Mangal Sukanti Khadia, among others.
Soon after consuming the food served at the feast, several attendees complained of severe vomiting and diarrhoea. Health authorities suspect food contamination due to improper storage or preparation.
The affected individuals were rushed to Hemgir Hospital, with critical cases referred to the District Headquarters Hospital.
Medical teams have collected food samples for laboratory testing to ascertain the cause.
District administration has urged communities to exercise caution during mass gatherings and ensure strict hygiene in food preparation to prevent such incidents.
