Sanskrit Teacher Suspended in Sundargarh Over Sexual Harassment Allegations
Sundargarh, — A Sanskrit teacher at PS Government High School in Gurundia block has been suspended following serious allegations of sexual harassment by multiple girl students.
The accused, Aditya Patra, was reported by at least seven students to the school’s headmistress, who promptly filed a written complaint with Gurundia police. The allegations pertain to misconduct during school hours.
In response, Sundargarh’s Additional District Education Officer (ADEO), Sarangdhar Bariha, issued a suspension order citing “gross misconduct.” Patra has been barred from leaving his designated headquarters at the Block Education Office in Gurundia without prior approval.
Police have registered a case and begun recording statements from the students. ADEO Bariha emphasised that the suspension was necessary to ensure an impartial investigation and safeguard student welfare.
The incident has sparked concern across the district, with authorities assuring swift and transparent action.
