Rayagada Railway Division Begins Operations, Boosting South Odisha Connectivity

Rayagada, June 1: The newly formed Rayagada Railway Division under East Coast Railway officially commenced operations today, marking a significant milestone in strengthening railway administration across South Odisha.

With train control offices, monitoring systems, and operational boards now functional, the division has gained independent authority over train operations.

This decentralisation is expected to bring administration closer to field units, enabling faster decision‑making, improved asset management, and better coordination with state agencies and industries.

The division will be led by Amitabh Singhal, a senior IRSEE officer from the 1995 batch, widely recognised for his role in the Vande Bharat Express project and his professional excellence.

Strategically located in a mineral‑rich and industrial belt, the Rayagada Division is poised to enhance freight transport, strengthen regional connectivity, and accelerate infrastructure projects.

Officials believe this move will not only improve operational efficiency but also contribute to the economic growth of South Odisha and adjoining regions.
