Police Foil Murder Plot, Seize Five Pistols in Jharsuguda

Jharsuguda, April 28: In a major breakthrough under Operation Netra, Brajrajnagar Police foiled a planned murder and dismantled an illegal arms racket in Jharsuguda district.

Acting on intelligence, police teams arrested three individuals—Santosh Khedkar (36), Vishal Bag (30), and Bunti Prasad (34)—and seized five pistols, 20 live rounds, and a motorcycle.

Santosh and Vishal were caught with four loaded pistols near Shiv Temple, while Bunti, identified as the main supplier, was later arrested with another firearm.

Investigations revealed that Bunti sourced high‑quality country‑made pistols from Vaishali district, Bihar, selling them for Rs 50,000 each. The weapons were allegedly intended for a revenge‑driven murder plot.

SP Raghavendra Gundala confirmed charges under BNS Section 111(4) and multiple provisions of the Arms Act, stating that the accused have been forwarded to court.

This successful operation highlights the police’s proactive measures against organised crime and illegal arms trafficking in Odisha.
