Odisha Weather Update: IMD Issues Red Alert for Six Districts

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a Red Alert for six districts of Odisha — Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Jagatsinghpur, Cuttack, and Keonjhar — as a low‑pressure system over the Bay of Bengal triggers heavy rainfall across the state.

According to IMD, the system is expected to intensify and remain active for the next five days, bringing widespread rain to northern and coastal districts.

Orange Alerts have been sounded in Balasore, Sundargarh, Angul, Dhenkanal, Mayurbhanj, Boudh, Puri, Khordha, and Nayagarh, while Yellow Alerts cover Jharsuguda, Bargarh, Sambalpur, Deogarh, Sonepur, Bolangir, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, and Ganjam.

Authorities have advised fishermen not to venture into the sea due to rough conditions and gusty winds reaching 30–40 kmph.

Residents in vulnerable areas are urged to stay alert, monitor official updates, and follow local administration advisories.
