Odisha Spends ₹7,915 Cr Under NHM in Two Years
Odisha has reported a total expenditure of Rs 7,915.22 crore under the National Health Mission (NHM) during 2024–25 and 2025–26.
The Centre released Rs 3,677.50 crore to the state across these two years, while Odisha’s spending exceeded the allocations.
In 2024–25, Odisha received Rs 1,916.79 crore but spent Rs 3,585.01 crore.
In 2025–26, the release stood at Rs 1,760.71 crore, with expenditure rising to Rs 4,330.21 crore.
Officials highlighted that public health remains a state subject, with the Centre providing technical and financial support based on proposals submitted by states.
The government is strengthening primary healthcare through Ayushman Arogya Mandirs (AAMs), which deliver services in maternal and child health, mental health, oral and eye care, ENT, and palliative care.
Preventive and promotive healthcare remains a key focus.
To ensure quality, Indian Public Health Standards (IPHS) have been introduced, with a dashboard and toolkit launched in June 2024 for self‑assessment.
Programmes under NHM are regularly monitored through review meetings, field visits, and Common Review Missions.
Districts such as Baragada and Jharsuguda are also covered under the Health Dynamics of India (HDI) 2023–24 framework.
