Singh Deo Reviews Kharif 2026 Readiness in Keonjhar

Keonjhar, Odisha: Deputy Chief Minister Kanak Vardhan Singh Deo visited Keonjhar district to assess preparations for the upcoming Kharif 2026 cropping season.

During his field inspection, he interacted with farmers engaged in paddy nursery raising and transplanting, while reviewing the district’s readiness against possible El Niño–induced monsoon challenges.

Singh Deo directed Agriculture Department officials to implement the District Agriculture Contingency Plan, ensure timely advisories to farmers, and guarantee availability of inputs such as seeds and fertilisers.

He also inspected land earmarked for model farms, which will serve as demonstration sites for best practices and research.

Despite forecasts of a below‑normal monsoon, the Deputy CM expressed confidence that coordinated efforts between farmers, officials, and local representatives would secure a successful cropping season.

He was accompanied by local MLAs, the Agriculture Commissioner, the Collector, and senior officials during the review.
