Rayagada Mob Violence Case Declared ‘Red Flag’ by Odisha DGP
Odisha Director General of Police (DGP) YB Khurania has categorised the recent mob violence in Rayagada as a ‘Red Flag’ case, underscoring its sensitivity and seriousness.
So far, police have arrested 23 individuals, while several others remain detained for questioning.
Many accused are still absconding, prompting the formation of special teams to trace them.
Three criminal cases have been registered, with the Crime Branch assisting the local police in the investigation.
The violence has left Intaliguda village deserted, as residents fled fearing arrest and further unrest.
Meanwhile, strict action is being taken against those who recorded and circulated videos of the incident on social media.
Cyber teams, under the supervision of the DIG, South Eastern Range, are working to identify those responsible for making the videos viral.
Two volunteers allegedly attacked by the mob are recovering, while Rayagada SP Raj Prasad has assured that he is personally monitoring the investigation to ensure justice.
