ECoR Urges Passengers to Report Suspicious Activities via Helpline 139 During Festive Rush
Bhubaneswar: East Coast Railway (ECoR) has appealed to passengers to remain vigilant and immediately report any suspicious activity or unattended baggage through Railway Helpline 139 or to the nearest Railway Protection Force (RPF) personnel to ensure safe and secure travel during the festive season.
With increased passenger movement during the ongoing festive period, ECoR has intensified safety and security arrangements across its jurisdiction.
Additional Railway Protection Force (RPF) and Government Railway Police (GRP) personnel have been deployed at major railway stations, while special trains have been introduced to manage the surge in passenger traffic.
The railway administration has urged travellers to maintain discipline while boarding and deboarding trains.
Passengers have been advised to form orderly queues, avoid rushing or overcrowding, and use designated waiting areas whenever available.
Arriving at stations well in advance and following announcements regarding train schedules and platform changes can help ensure a smooth travel experience.
Emphasising passenger safety, ECoR cautioned against dangerous practices such as travelling on footboards, buffers, or train rooftops and crossing railway tracks unlawfully.
The railway authority also warned that unnecessary alarm chain pulling is a punishable offence and can cause operational disruptions and inconvenience to fellow passengers.
Passengers have also been reminded that carrying inflammable substances, firecrackers, and other prohibited items on trains or railway premises is strictly forbidden.
Reiterating its commitment to safe travel, East Coast Railway called upon passengers to cooperate with railway staff and security personnel and make responsible use of Helpline 139 to report any security concerns.
The railway administration stated that public vigilance and cooperation are essential to maintaining a safe and hassle-free travel environment during the festive rush.
