Odisha Reopens GSSBY Portal; Eligible Journalists Can Apply Till Nov 30

Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government has reopened the application portal for the Gopabandhu Sambadika Swasthya Bima Yojana (GSSBY), extending an opportunity for eligible working journalists to enrol in the state-supported health insurance scheme.

According to official notifications, the application window will remain open until November 30.

The initiative aims to provide health insurance coverage to journalists across the state and strengthen social security measures for media professionals.

Working journalists who have not previously enrolled under the scheme can submit their applications through the designated online portal within the stipulated period.

The Information and Public Relations Department has directed District Information and Public Relations Officers (DIPROs) to verify applications after the submission period.

Verification and scrutiny of applications will be carried out in coordination with district administrations before the final recommendations are forwarded to the department.

Officials have also been instructed to cross-check applications with existing beneficiary databases and health insurance card records to prevent duplicate enrollments and ensure that only eligible journalists receive the benefits of the scheme.

The reopening of the portal is expected to benefit many journalists who could not register earlier, enabling them to avail themselves of healthcare coverage under the GSSBY initiative.

Interested applicants have been advised to complete the application process before the deadline to avoid last-minute issues.
