Odisha Sets Benchmark in Voter List Revision, Earns Election Commission’s Praise

Odisha has emerged as a frontrunner in electoral preparedness with its exemplary execution of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR)‑2026 programme.

Senior officials from the Election Commission of India (ECI), including Principal Secretary S.B. Joshi and Secretary Sujit Kumar Mishra, reviewed progress in Dhenkanal and Anugola districts and expressed satisfaction with the meticulous voter list preparation.

In Dhenkanal, 99.44% of registered voters received enumeration forms, while statewide coverage reached 99.38%, benefiting over 3.31 crore voters. Nearly 2.95 crore forms have already been digitised, reflecting Odisha’s commitment to transparency and efficiency.

The ECI highlighted Odisha’s innovative strategies as best practices, with a team from Maharashtra visiting to study the model.

Officials praised the state’s effort to create a correct, transparent, error‑free, and inclusive voter list, describing Odisha’s performance as a national benchmark for electoral integrity.
