Odisha Records Early Temperature Surge | Jharsuguda Hits 37°C Ahead of Summer
Bhubaneswar: Odisha is witnessing an unusual rise in temperatures well before the onset of summer, with several districts recording above‑normal heat.
On Friday, Jharsuguda emerged as the hottest spot in the state, registering 37°C, three degrees above the seasonal average.
At least six locations across Odisha crossed the 35°C mark, signalling an accelerated seasonal shift.
The Regional Meteorological Centre in Bhubaneswar confirmed that no active weather systems are currently influencing the state, resulting in persistently dry conditions.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast a further rise of 2–3°C next week if dry weather continues. This early surge has sparked public concern, with residents fearing a harsher summer ahead.
Authorities have advised people to stay hydrated, avoid direct sunlight during peak hours, and follow health advisories to mitigate the impact of the heat.
