Suresh Pujari Slams Congress & BJD Over Women’s Bill Opposition

Bhubaneswar, April 26: Odisha Revenue Minister Suresh Pujari launched a sharp attack on the Congress and BJD, accusing them of committing a “huge mistake” by opposing the Women’s Reservation Bill.

He described their stance as anti‑women and politically damaging, asserting that history will judge them harshly for resisting a landmark reform.

Pujari announced that a special discussion on the issue will be held in the Odisha Assembly on April 30, challenging the opposition parties to present fact‑based arguments.

He dismissed BJD’s protests as “drama” lacking facts or logic, pointing out the contradiction that women already enjoy reservation in panchayats and municipalities, yet the opposition resists extending it to the Assembly and Parliament.

The remarks come amid rising political heat, with the ruling BJP aiming to corner the opposition on women‑centric legislation and strengthen its pro‑women narrative ahead of upcoming political battles.
