Odisha H&UD Department Holds Special Camp Court, Clears 142 Appeal Cases in a Day

Bhubaneswar: In a landmark initiative to strengthen citizen‑centric governance, the Housing & Urban Development (H&UD) Department of Odisha organised a Special Camp Court at UNNATI Bhawan, Bhubaneswar.

The session, presided over by Additional Chief Secretary Usha Padhee, IAS, focused on expediting appeal cases under the Odisha Development Authorities (ODA) Act, 1982.

During the camp court, 142 appeals filed by citizens against orders of the Bhubaneswar Development Authority (BDA) and Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) were heard and disposed of in a single day.

The move significantly reduced pendency and ensured timely justice delivery.

To decentralise and accelerate the disposal process, senior officers, including Special Secretaries and Additional Secretaries, have been designated as Appellate Authorities.

This framework aims to reinforce fairness, accountability, and transparency in urban governance.

The initiative has been welcomed by citizens and stakeholders, who expressed confidence in the government’s commitment to responsive administration.

The department plans to continue such time‑bound camp courts to clear pending cases and enhance service delivery across Odisha’s urban institutions.
