Odisha Govt Fast-Tracks Material Prices for Faster Projects

Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government has initiated a fast‑track process to fix prices of construction materials essential for infrastructure projects across the state.

A high‑level review meeting chaired by Sanjay Kumar Singh, Principal Secretary of the Works Department, emphasised the need for transparency, efficiency, and timely updates in rate determination.

The meeting reviewed prices of sand, gravel, cement, bricks, bitumen, electrical fittings, furniture, and other inputs.

Officials agreed to align rates with notifications from the Central Government, Ministry of Road Transport & Highways, Odisha Labour Commission, and public sector oil companies, including IOCL, HPCL, and BPCL.

Singh highlighted that completing the price determination process swiftly is crucial to keep construction activities moving at full speed.

The move is expected to reduce delays in tendering, optimise public funds, and ensure faster completion of projects such as roads, bridges, and public buildings while maintaining high‑quality standards.

Senior engineers and administrators from Works, Water Resources, Housing & Urban Development, and Rural Development departments attended the meeting, underscoring the government’s commitment to strengthening Odisha’s infrastructure framework.
