Odisha Govt Transfers OAS Officers as Block Development Officers

Bhubaneswar, Feb 2: The Panchayati Raj & Drinking Water Department of the Government of Odisha has issued a notification announcing the transfer and posting of several Odisha Administrative Service (OAS) officers as Block Development Officers (BDOs) across the state.

The reshuffle, dated February 2, 2026, is part of routine administrative changes aimed at strengthening governance and ensuring effective delivery of welfare schemes at the grassroots level.

By placing experienced OAS officers in key block positions, the government seeks to enhance efficiency in rural development, drinking water supply, and panchayati raj administration.

The notification highlights the state’s continued focus on decentralisation and empowering block administrations to implement flagship programs.

Such transfers are common in the administrative framework, ensuring rotation of officers and fresh perspectives in local governance.

This move comes alongside other major announcements in Odisha, including new self-help group loan initiatives and infrastructure projects, underscoring the government’s emphasis on rural empowerment and development.
